Specialty Materials' Boron Fibers, when combined with organic or metal matrices, create high-performance composite structures that offer lightweight, high-strength and high-stiffness properties. For more than 30 years, boron fibers have provided enabling solutions to meet the needs of applications that require structural integrity under the most extreme environmental conditions.

Specialty Materials' Chemical Vapor Deposition process uses fine tungsten wire for the substrate and boron trichloride gas as the boron source. Manufacturing processes are precisely controlled and constantly monitored to assure consistent production of Boron Filament in diameters of 4.0 and 5.6 mil (100 and 140 µm). The CVD facility is capable of manufacturing 35,000 pounds of filament per year and more than 50,000 pounds of Boron Epoxy Prepreg Tape.

Specialty Materials' boron filament meets all applicable government and industry specifications.
